The ICD-10-CM Alphabetical Index is designed to allow medical coders to look up various medical terms and connect them with the appropriate ICD codes. There are 2 terms under the parent term 'Myxoma' in the ICD-10-CM Alphabetical Index. Myxoma - see also Neoplasm, connective tissue, benign nerve sheath - see Neoplasm, nerve, benign

Resection of an atrial myxoma is billed with 33120-33130 (I think. I'm at home and i don't have my CPT book in front of me) so you can't bill the re-op code with this procedure. I should add, the original surgery also had to be a cabg and/or valve procedure so if the initial surgery was resection of a myxoma, you can't bill for a re-operation.
The diagnosis of cardiac myxoma, which is distinctive from soft tissue myxomas, requires the presence of the typical lepidic myxoma cells that are polygonal cells with no or mild atypia and abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm. They are arranged as single cells, nests or cordons, often around vessels, within an abundant myxoid stroma.

It is often suspected that a combination of genetic and environmental risk factors can contribute to the development of a myxoma. However, 1 in 10 cases of atrial myxoma do appear to be inherited, or passed down through families. Myxomas that are genetically inherited are called familial myxomas.
Cardiac masses are space occupying lesions within the cardiac cavities or adjacent to the pericardium. They include frequently diagnosed clinical entities such as clots and vegetations, common benign tumors such as myxomas and papillary fibroelastomas and uncommon benign or malignant primary or metastatic tumors.
The left atrial thrombus is a known complication of atrial fibrillation and rheumatic mitral valve disease, especially in the setting of an enlarged left atrium. If not detected and properly treated, it can lead to devastating thromboembolic complications.
Right heart thrombus in the absence of structural heart disease, atrial fibrillation, or catheter located in the heart is rare and usually represents a traveling clot from the venous system to the lung, known as right heart thrombi-in-transit (RHThIT). The optimal therapy for RHThIT remains controversial.
