Oral diagnosis in dentistry is the practice of determining all problems inside and outside of the mouth by using scientific knowledge to determine the relationship between them, and thereby helping to make the right decisions regarding treatment based on the findings in hand.
This dental procedure code covers surgical extraction, and specifically refers to the removal of an erupted (or, visible) tooth. A surgical extraction can also be referred to as an “open” extraction. Determining the type of extraction depends on the sturdiness of the crown, as well as the curvature of the tooth root.
Complete Bony Impaction: There is NO space for the tooth to erupt. It remains embedded in the jawbone or if even partially visible requires complex surgical techniques for removal.
The client will need to setup service codes and ADA codes to accommodate for the supernumerary tooth numbers that are required. For example, service code 07140 (extraction of a tooth) needs to be performed on a supernumerary tooth 51.
