Z41. 2 - Encounter for routine and ritual male circumcision | ICD-10-CM.

ICD-10 code: N47 Redundant prepuce, phimosis and paraphimosis.
Circumcision is a relatively simple procedure. The foreskin is removed just behind the head of the penis using a scalpel or surgical scissors. Any bleeding can be stopped using heat (cauterisation), and the remaining edges of skin will be stitched together using dissolvable stitches.
Paraphimosis (say: para-fim-oh-sus) is a serious condition that can only happen in men and boys who haven't been circumcised. Paraphimosis means the foreskin is stuck behind the head of the penis and can't be pulled back down into a normal position.
Background: Phimosis and redundant prepuce are defined as the inability of the foreskin to be retracted behind the glans penis in uncircumcised males.
CPT codes 54162 and 54163 will be reported for revision of circumcision or complication developed in post-circumcision.
54450Unfortunately, only one code can be used for paraphimosis: 54450 (Foreskin manipulation including lysis of preputial adhesions and stretching). When a local anesthetic has to be administered to complete the procedure, it is included in the global surgical package of 54450 and is therefore not separately billable.
Pathologic phimosis defines an inability to retract the foreskin after it was previously retractible or after puberty, usually secondary to distal scarring of the foreskin. Paraphimosis is the entrapment of a retracted foreskin behind the coronal sulcus and is a disease of uncircumcised or partially circumcised males.
Redundant prepuce is an excess amount of foreskin – the foreskin completely covers the top of your penis when it's not erect. Not being able to fully withdraw the foreskin from the head of your penis could lead to health problems.
